BEAMINSTER School played host to the second Primary Area Cross Country race as West Dorset’s young running talent made for another terrific event in perfect running conditions.

The first race saw Anna Scarborough finish very strongly to win her second race with Maisie-Grace Macdonald edging out Maisie Pitcher to take second.

An extremely tight team event saw Bridport Primary and St Catherine’s sharing the cup with 36 points each.

In a further twist, Salway Ash and St Mary’s Bridport both tied for third place with 67 points while St Catherine’s picked up the trophy for the best performing B team.

Just like the first race, the boys’ event was also fought out by the same three individual runners from the race at Colfox but this time the order changed.

St Catherine’s Archie Elliott took first place, ahead of Bridport Primary’s Ryan Burt and St Catherine’s Jack March.

Bridport Primary put in a magnificent performance to take first-placed team overall with a terrific score of 22, followed by St Catherine’s on 41 and Salway Ash with 57.

Bridport Primary also picked up the trophy for the best performing B team.

The year three race was once again keenly contested and very close throughout.

In the end, St Catherine’s athletes dominated as Oscar Stevens was the first boy home with Tilly-Lu Winters-O’Brien winning her second race of the year.

St Catherine’s took the team honours just seven points ahead of Parrett and Axe in second, while Salway Ash were way back in third with 70 points.
