DORCHESTER Sports’ boss Ashley James hopes to break a hoodoo hanging over his managerial career when his side visits Bridport Reserves in the Dorset Premier League tomorrow (3pm).
James has lost all five of his games as boss at St Mary’s Field, including a cup final, but the Sports’ manager is aiming to carry across the excellent form shown during an 8-1 demolition of Wareham Rangers last time out.
He told Echosport: “(Bridport) are a very good side and we’ve got a horrendous record down there, I’ve lost all five games I’ve ever had there.
“Managers get a ground they never get a result at, and Bridport’s my one. I’ve never had a sniff down there. Hopefully we can put it right but we know it’s a tough place to go.
“They probably deserved a little bit more at the Clayson when it was a 1-1 draw so it’s going to be a tough game and we’ll have to be at our best to get a result.”
He added: “Fingers crossed we can take the (Wareham) performance into it and can go and attack and score a few goals and see where it takes us. It was nice to get a result like that.
“Hopefully we’ll get a positive result because they’re in and around us. They’ve got quite a few games in hand on us so it’s important that we try and beat them.”
Jason Read and Jamie Quinton both return to the squad, with James anticipating that two players will drop down to the reserves to accommodate the duo’s comeback.
Meanwhile, Dorchester Sports Reserves host Allendale in Dorset Senior League action (3pm).
