SO IT ended 0-0 and yes it was a bit windy and yes it is one of the talking points, but what else could we discuss from Weymouth's 0-0 draw at Wimborne?

Aidan Williams is on hand to take you through the five talking points from the 0-0 draw.

NO DEBATE

IT is 2019, should I really have to be calling fans out for sexism? At one point I heard a Wimborne fan criticise a player a couple of times for 'screaming like a girl'.

I didn't tolerate it and called them out on it, because there is no place in football for it.

I get that there is a lot of anger in football, resulting from the brilliant passion the sport can create, but that will never be an excuse for degrading language of any kind.

YOU HAVE TO LAUGH

THE wind was atrocious. I'm stating the obvious there and everyone will be aware of it.

In fact it actually proved to be amusing at times.

There was one point where a Wimborne defender made a clearance, but kicked it high into the air, the wind caught hold of it and it landed closer to the goal than it had been prior to the kick and it almost engineered a Weymouth chance.

Another moment was when Tom McHale palmed a fierce strike over, or at least that seemed to be the intention before the wind caught hold of it, kept it in play and McHale had to catch it.

It was complete madness and sometimes you just have to laugh.

HUMBLE PIE

I THOUGHT McHale had a tough start to life at Weymouth, with the 4-3 win at Salisbury his debut, a defeat to Basingstoke and the Met Police 4-4 draw among his first four games – the other a clean sheet at Gosport.

Yet any notion of that tough start being any criticism of him has been smashed quite convincingly.

Wimborne was another brilliant show from him and the keeper was the best player on the pitch. Three clean sheets in a row is not to be sniffed at.

...IT'S GETTING SILLY NOW

FOR how competitive the title race this latest twist is pretty amusing. I was talking to a fan prior to the match and neither of us could believe how the results have gone for other teams in the title race.

Again results elsewhere meant that, despite the draw, Weymouth actually increased their lead at the top thanks to Taunton losing at Frome Town and Salisbury being beaten by Tiverton Town.

Some justice perhaps, I am not aware of what the conditions were like at the other grounds but you can hardly criticise a team for not playing their best football with the force of that wind.

IT'S TRUE, UNFAIR, BUT TRUE

THAT was the first time this season Weymouth have failed to score in a league match. A remarkable feat considering that it is mid-March.

Now this is not something you can really criticise the Terras for in the conditions, or at least it would be very harsh to do so.

There is no blame attached anywhere from my point of view for the run ending here, yet factually it is correct.

If there is any time for it to end though, it may as well be in conditions that absolve the players of any blame.
