STORM Gareth could not prevent the final primary cross country race of the year at Colfox as St Catherine’s again proved the team to beat.

Children take part in relays for the season-ending event with competitors in Year 3 to Year 6 and teams made up of two boys and two girls.

In the Year 4, 5 and 6 relay the race went to form with St Catherine’s, Parrett and Axe, Bridport Primary and Salway Ash all neck and neck after the first leg.

Proceedings then became a battle between Parrett and Axe and St Catherine’s for first and second place.

Almost inevitably, the latter finally stretched out their lead to take first place with Parrett and Axe in second and Bridport Primary third.

Bridport Primary took the B team trophy.

The Year 3 event told a very similar story with St Catherine’s and Parrett and Axe fighting it out for the top two positions.

St Catherine’s quartet proved just too strong in the end and showed why they had won the previous two events taking first with Parrett and Axe A team in second.

Remarkably, Parrett and Axe B team took third place and therefore also received the highest-placed B team trophy.
