DORCHESTER will be pitched into the first of two consecutive home games in a bid for Wadworth 6X Southern Counties South league survival tomorrow.

The county town side sit eleventh in the table whilst their opposition, North Dorset, sit sixth.

With four games of the season left Dorchester need to overcome the 10-point deficit to the side above them, Thatcham. With Thatcham away to bottom of the league Bradford-on-Avon, this makes tomorrow’s game a vital one to win well. Dorchester will take hope knowing that the majority of North Dorset’s wins have been very tight games making the home side’s destiny within their own grasp.

With home advantage sure to make a difference Dorchester name a familiar strong squad.

Tom Evans, Liam Kershaw and Joe Prior all take up their preferred positions in the front row whilst Laurence Burch again steps into the second row and Steve Tucker is named in his favoured position of number eight.

The strong mobile pack will look to secure the ball for their backs to run at North Dorset.

The evergreen Dave Gower, playing at scrum-half, will be keen to release his backs and with the finishing skills of Jamie Morgan, James Baker and Jack Chatfield ready to run though the line, the backs should be able to put in some scores.

The match kicks off at Coburg Road at 3pm and a good partisan home crowd is expected to urge their team on and kick start the climb away from the drop zone.

Dorchester’s table topping A XV head to Dinton in the Wadworth 6X Dorset & Wilts Two South fixture, the home side sit seventh in the league and will no doubt be looking to avenge the 29-10 defeat at Coburg Road in December.

With only three games left to play this season, captain Rob Parker will be keen to finish on a high and achieve the league win.

He will lead out his strongest available team to collect another win on the road.

The weekend starts with the U14s and U16s entertaining local rivals Swanage and Wareham tonight at 7.30pm, whilst Sunday looks a busy day for the Junior section, with the U6s to the U12s welcoming a host of touring sides to the club from Weybridge, Farnham, St Brendan’s and Beckenham.

Meanwhile, in Wadworth 6X Dorset & Wilts One South action, Weymouth & Portland travel to Wimborne Seconds looking to cement their respectable fifth place.

Bottom side Bridport face a tough challenge away to Sherborne Seconds needing to close a 17-point deficit to rivals Puddletown.
