DORCHESTER Town’s Ability Counts teams had a day to forget as both sides suffered a double defeat after travelling to the Specsavers County Ground in Hamworthy.

Dorchester’s Lulworth side faced a double header against rivals Wimborne. The game started slowly as both teams tentatively felt their way through the game.

Wimborne found themselves in space and drilled the ball low, though to no avail as goalkeeper Emil Woodstock caught the ball between his legs.

Woodstock was called into action soon after as he collected the ball from a free header.

Dorchester could not find their stride in the first half and it cost them dearly as a Wimborne winger drilled the ball across the box.

Woodstock could only palm the ball out into the direction of Wimborne midfielder Luke Coakes, who netted into an open goal.

Dorchester played better in the second half, taking more care with the ball and their heavy pressure paid dividends as Dan Williamson latched onto a ball from Danny Kiy.

The striker took a touch before poking it past the goalkeeper.

However, Dorchester could not hold onto the game and with five minutes left a corner was met with a towering header from a Wimborne defender at the back post for a 2-1 win.

Dorchester’s second fixture, also against Wimborne, saw the county town side start the brighter.

They pressed the team higher up the pitch, however could not reap the rewards as Wimborne scored on the counter attack following a clash between two Dorchester defenders.

The shot had injured goalkeeper Jordan Pitman and Dorchester were down to six men.

Frustration grew which saw Wimborne double their lead as the ball fell to a player following a corner.

The shot seemed to ricochet through the box to bundle tamely in.

At half-time the Dorchester players had their own huddle, holding Wimborne off with some strong challenges by defender Kevin Williamson. Dorchester could not find a goal but had gained character, despite losing 2-0.

Dorchester’s Durdle Door side had two must-win games against Poole Town and Dexter’s Sports who sat third and first respectively.

Again, Dorchester were unable to keep control of the ball, needing the ball to be cleared countless times.

As Dorchester defenders had pushed for a goal from a corner, the ball fell to Tom Best who could not find the right pass, instead losing possession to a powerful Poole midfielder who drove up the pitch and fired it into the corner of the net.

The player bagged his brace two minutes later as Dorchester were again exposed on the counter attack.

The Magpies needed an immediate response and it was Jamie Dixon who delivered it, juggling the ball in the air whilst running before striking it on the volley to the keeper’s left.

Dorchester were a more compact side in the second half but Poole finished the game off with a third, hooking the ball around a defender to catch the goalkeeper off his line to complete a 3-1 victory.

The final game against Dexter’s saw a complete lack of structure as the league leaders found their way through several times, only for the goalkeeper, Woodstock to make a tirade of saves.

However, one such save saw the ball loop into the air, only for a Dexter’s player to make contact with the ball to touch it in.

Dexter’s scored again as their striker saw the near post open, leaving the goalkeeper flat-footed.

Best found a goal forcing his way through the team but Dexter’s wound down the clock in the final five minutes which only added frustration as the Magpies lost 2-1.
