DORCHESTER Town boss Callum Brooks has confirmed “fantastic” midfielder Noah Keats will not extend his stay at the Clayson Stadium from parent club Truro City.

Keats, who was previous manager Steve Thompson’s final signing, played his final game for the Magpies in the 3-2 triumph at relegation rivals Walton Casuals and returns to the White Tigers having scored twice for his temporary club.

Truro are in danger of relegation from the National League South and occupy the final safe position in 19th, although the Cornish outfit sit bottom of the form table with one point from five games.

Commenting on Keats’ departure from the club, Brooks praised the midfielder for his attitude and integration within the side.

He told Echosport: “I’d just like to place on record that he’s been fantastic since I’ve come in. He’s trained well, been a good part of the group and he’s a great lad.

“For now, with our position, Noah will go back and I wish him nothing but the best. I’d just like to thank him for his efforts – he has been good.”

To bolster his midfield options, Brooks brought in James Granger from Basingstoke Town – the duo worked together when the 22-year-old played on loan at Poole in the 2016/17 season.

With the briefest of debuts, Granger was a 90th-minute substitute for Keats against Walton but Dorchester number one Brooks was reluctant to describe the former Dolphin as a ready-made replacement for the outgoing loanee.

Brooks said: “James has obviously come in late in the season.

“I’ve made it clear that after my initial assessment I did feel the group was good enough, without numerous additions, to start winning games of football.

“James is a player I’ve known for a few years. It suited him – he’s got one eye on next year.

“He wanted to come and get around some positivity. He’s had an up and down couple of years, a lack of enjoyment.

“He was looking to come into the group, play for his place and see where he sits with it all. I know James, he’s a good character and will add to our situation.

“It was a no-brainer for me to put him on forms and we’ll see how the next few weeks go. He’s a good player and belongs to us – I felt that was good business.”
