DORCHESTER Town manager Callum Brooks spoke highly of the Magpies’ “character” and bravery during the 3-2 win over Walton Casuals.

Brooks’ men took the lead twice in the contest through Harry Kite and Antonio Diaz goals but were hauled back twice by the Stags before delivering a killer 94th-minute blow courtesy of an own goal.

Speaking to Echosport, Brooks underlined his delight in the two attributes he was most captured by during the victory.

He said: “I was impressed again with the character our lads showed. I’ve spoken about different things in the last couple of weeks.

“But where we’ve taken the lead twice and got pegged back twice that can deflate teams, especially when you’re away from home – it could be them that goes ahead next.

“The character our lads showed to continue to be brave and play football in the right areas – clever, fast-flowing attacking football to make chances.

“The character to keep going right up until the 94th minute, not just to sit in and take a point but to attack with bodies running forward, desperate to claim the three points and make a difference for the football club.

“I looked at my team and they were full of character and that’s always a delightful thing.”

Dorchester will bid for a fourth straight league win at home to Beaconsfield on Saturday (3pm).
