DORCHESTER Town manager Callum Brooks expects a “fast-flowing” game against relegation-threatened Beaconsfield Town in their Evo-Stik Southern Premier South clash at the Clayson Stadium tomorrow (3pm).

Brooks’ comment was made in relation to the “tempo” with which he has tasked the Magpies to play at, believing a quick, slick approach suits his mid-table side.

Dorchester are placed in 12th, nine points off the play-offs and eight above the drop zone – a remarkable gain of eight places in four matches.

The Magpies face a 16th-placed Beaconsfield outfit sucked into the relegation battle after a startling collapse in form following a strong start to the season.

Beaconsfield do, however, have two games in hand and could rise a handful of places – potentially above Dorchester – should they chalk up two wins.

Speaking to Echosport, Brooks labelled the contest as another big match for his charges.

He said: “They’re coming thick and fast, these big matches. We know what to prepare for. Any team down there fighting for their lives will give everything they’ve got.

“We’ll have to be at our best again to register a result.

“The pace of the game will be quick. The artificial pitches are conducive to a fast-flowing game.

“A fast-flowing game suits our group, so where possible we will be trying to play the game at a tempo because it suits us to do so.”

Brooks admitted he is beginning to see his ideas coalesce in his players’ football.

He said: “The first thing I tried to do was get a resilience into them and make us difficult to beat. That’s come together with some very good technical footballers.

“The attacking ideas and ones based around us having possession have gone in quite fluently because that’s what the group naturally will try and do.

“It’s been a good match so far. They’re a good group. I’ve just got behind them, supported them with a little bit of structure.

“We’ve reaped the rewards because they’ve got up and running with 10 points in four games, which is a fantastic return by anyone’s standards.

“Every time you win a game you get an extra layer of confidence. The feel-good factor goes up. My job is to keep building on the work we’ve done. We’ve got to keep doing what we’ve been doing to keep registering results.

“We’ve taken each game as it comes, worked hard in the week, put a gameplan together and the lads have gone out and executed it impeccably. That’s allowed their football ability to come to the fore.”

Brennan Camp was recalled by Bournemouth and has since joined Weymouth after game time concerns, but Tom Blair (suspension) and Ben Seymour (illness) return. Luke Winsper (ankle) remains out.
