OLYMPIC champion Hannah Mills kicked off the Princess Sofia Trophy in Mallorca by topping the 470 standings on day one.

Portland-based Mills, together with partner Eilidh McIntyre, stormed to the top of the table with two top-four finishes.

There was also a dream start for Dorset pair Charlotte Dobson and Saskia Tidey in the 49er FX as finishes of first, second and fourth put them second overall on day one.

Reigning Finn class champion Giles Scott won race two but lies 12th after day one.

However, there was no racing for the 49er and both RS:X fleets as wind halted play.

Speaking to the British Sailing Team website, Portland's Tidey said: "We're really happy with the solid day that we had. We couldn't have asked for any more.

"It sets us off on the right foot and it's a good position to build on over the week. There's a huge fleet of FXs here and it's going to be a big week but we're looking forward to the rest of it."
