WEYMOUTH Golf Club members Dave Picton and Calvin Drage will head to the Belfry this weekend to take part in the final of The Golf Classic.
The event is seen as the construction industry's most prestigious golf tournament and 40 pairs will battle for victory when the action commences on Saturday.
Picton and Drage have had to negotiate six knockout rounds to reach the final and they are now looking forward to tackling the legendary Brabazon Course.
Picton said: "The knockout rounds were held at courses like Parkstone, Weymouth and South Winchester and to get to the final of such a massive national competition is awesome.
"The Belfry is one of the most famous golf clubs in the country and is the only one that has staged the Ryder Cup four times so it is going to be a great experience."
The finalists will enjoy an overnight stay and gala dinner with prize presentation, plus use of all the facilities at The De Vere Belfry, including the Leisure Club and Aqua Spa.
But Picton is not thinking about anything else except doing everything he can to ensure he puts on a solid performance.
He added: "We have got to this stage as south west champions and at the moment I am practising as much as I can.
"Calvin plays off three and is a pretty good golfer and when we team up together it seems to bring the best out of both of us.
"I have also been on the Internet every night studying the course so I know where to put my shots. The Brabazon course is very challenging but we are looking forward to taking it on."
The Golf Classic is one of the most open' competitions, as demonstrated by the wide-ranging handicaps of the finalists over the last 14 years.
