FRESH from his European title success Dorchester's Simon Wakely finished third in the British Enduro Championship E2 class.

MPS Racing Husqvarna's Wakely claimed fifth overall at Natterjack aboard his WR250 in the final found of the season.

Although claiming sixth overall on day one, Wakely was a little disappointed that he wasn't able to finish inside the top three at the final round of the BEC series.

He said: "The first day didn't go that well to be honest. The second day was better but I felt tired, maybe it's because of racing in the final round of the European championship last weekend or just because it's the end of the season.

"Winning the European title is great, as well as having a good British championship season. Everyone involved in the MPS Husqvarna team has worked really hard, I can't thank them enough."

The 21-year-old's next action sees him compete in the Weymouth Beach Race this Sunday.

The event could prove tricky for the county town rider given that he hasn't taken part in a motocross race for two years.
