DORCHESTER Town's Jamie Gleeson believes that Tuesday night's Setanta Shield comeback against Eastleigh will see the Magpies go on a decent run of form.

The midfielder, who was named man of the match in the 3-2 win on Tuesday, is confident of a change in fortunes following the club's first win in six games.

He told Echosport: "Let's hope this is a turning point in our season, I'm sure it will be. We have all been disappointed up until now but we have got to keep working hard and keep at it.

"We have got a great manager and great backing, all we need to do is improve on what we are doing and we'll get the results."

The former Southampton trainee was particularly pleased with the team's efforts out on the pitch after giving themselves a mountain to climb.

He added: "The Eastleigh game just goes to show what hard work can do. We went 2-0 down after a sloppy start but we showed the determination to get us through the match.

"Everyone, from the back right up to the front two, put the effort in. I thought we showed real heart and if you show that, along with some courage, then it will get you far."

The Avenue Stadium faithful brought the drum in to spur the lads on, but after 10 minutes of the game the visitors were the only ones playing with any rhythm.

But as soon as the Magpies got a goal the crowd found their voice. Gleeson commented: "The fans really got behind us. No one likes it when the supporters get on your back but they stuck by us and the standing ovation at the end was fantastic."

Despite being only 22 Gleeson is now one of the more experienced members of the squad having been at the club for two years now, and Dorchester's first ever full-time professional has confidence in his younger team-mates.

Gleeson said: "I'm sure the win will have given the younger lads in the side a huge lift. Jamie Cumming came in and did brilliantly, while Wes Fogden looks like a good signing. When you get given your chance you need to take it with both hands.

"We've got lots of ability in this squad we just need to keep the work-rate up to keep getting results."

With no first team match this weekend, the Avenue Stadium doors will be open tomorrow for a whole day of big screen sporting entertainment.

The lounge bar opens at 10am to show live coverage of England's cricketers before the Magpies' squad takes part in a training match at 1.45pm.

At 3pm the focus will return to the big screen as England's footballers take on Estonia. England's rugby players face France at 8pm in their World Cup semi-final clash.

Between 12-3pm, and again between 6-7pm all drinks will be half-price.
