WIMBORNE Town slipped into real danger of relegation with a 2-0 defeat at Beaconsfield Town in the Evo-Stik Southern Premier South.

Two goals in two minutes from Louis Stead did the damage, and leaves the Magpies with 45 points, two points and two places above Gosport Borough in the third relegation spot.

It was a more upbeat story for fellow Dorset side Poole Town, who had Cherries’ loanee Jake Scrimshaw score in the 90th minute to cap a 2-1 win at Farnborough.

The Dolphins had gone a goal down in the 26th minute after Reggie Young slotted in, but James Constable netted a penalty in the 50th minute prior to Scrimshaw’s strike.

The result was boosted by Kings Langley losing 2-1 at home to Swindon Supermarine, which means the Dolphins are now three points away from the third play-off spot.

Walton Casuals had recent England debutant Declan Rice in attendance as they secured a fine 4-1 win at home to Frome Town to stay out of the relegation zone.

The win, where James Ewington grabbed a hat-trick, sees the Robins edge closer to having relegation confirmed.

They sit second from bottom with 36 points, nine away from the Casuals who occupy the first spot of safety from relegation.

In a battle that would have had many at the Bob Lucas Stadium eagerly checking the score, the Met Police beat Taunton Town 3-1.

The result between the Terras’ other two title rivals means Weymouth sit seven points clear at the summit.

Two goals inside a minute from Jack Mazzone and Ethan Chislet after the 27th minute saw the Police take a 2-0 lead in at half-time.

Town’s Rocky Neal and Met’s Mazzone added goals in the second half as the Police rose to second in the table.

Gosport Borough shocked fourth place Salisbury with a 2-0 win, thanks to goals from ex-Terra Charlie Davis and ex-Dorchester player Sam Lanahan.

Another ex-Terra had cause for celebration, as Stewart Yetton scored his 500th career goal, as his side Tiverton Town drew 3-3 at Basingstoke Town.

Elsewhere, Chesham United beat Harrow Borough 2-0 and Hartley Wintney defeated Merthyr Town 2-1.
