MILBORNE PORT YOUTH 5

WIMBORNE TOWN 3

MILBORNE Port Youth beat Wimborne Town 5-3 as the Dorset County Under-18 Cup final produced a fantastic advert for attacking, exciting football played at an exhilarating pace.

Port were two goals up after only seven minutes, both goals scored by Ollie Hebbard, the second of which was a wonderful lob over Ed Phillips in the Young Magpies’ goal.

Wimborne got back in the game on 14 minutes through James Pugh, but a minute later Hebbard almost completed his hat-trick for Milborne when his shot rebounded back off of the foot of the post.

Wimborne Town were then awarded two penalties in the space of six minutes.

Milborne’s Hamish Amor saved the first but after a change of penalty taker the second was slotted home by Mika Mimanta to level at 2-2.

Milborne regained their lead seven minutes before the break through Lloyd Beard only to see Wimborne draw level three minutes later through Joe Freak.

Both teams attacked at will in the second half and in the 74th minute Port were awarded a corner kick which was firmly met by centre-back George Daniels who gave keeper Phillips no chance.

Wimborne tried hard to get back in the game but were hampered by losing Mimanta, their best player on the day, to injury.

Milborne made sure of their win when Lucas Ashford struck a left-footed stunner from 25 yards.

After the game Mike Dobson, a member of the DCFA Governance Committee, presented the cup to Milborne captain Ben Gear.
