WEYMOUTH'S Serita Shone is hoping to make the next Winter Olympics as part of Great Britain's bob skeleton squad.
The Bath University student is currently in Lillehammer, Norway, for two weeks as she attempts to make the three-person team for the 2010 games in Vancouver, Canada, Eighteen-year-old Shone is the youngest of the hopefuls but is the fastest competitor on Bath's dry course.
She is also a budding heptathlete, recently gaining praise from Olympic champion Daley Thompson after her success at the ESAA Sainsbury's Combined Events & Race Walk Champion-ship in Exeter, as well as being a keen karter.
Shone finished 13th in the MSA National Karting Finals at Larkhall, Scotland. The teenager had to retire from her first qualifying race due to an accident on the track, but she dusted herself off to race well in her next two outings to qualify in 19th place for the A final where she moved up six spots to take 13th.
