DORCHESTER Sports boss Ashley James has urged his players to “give it one last go” as Holt United visit the Clayson Stadium in their final Dorset Premier League game of the season tonight (7.45pm).

James’ men currently reside in eighth place but could rise to a maximum of seventh with three points against the former league champions under the lights.

With 12 days of rest since Sports’ 2-1 win over Shaftesbury Town Reserves, James is hopeful of a good display against the Bulls.

He told Echosport: “It’s a nice way to finish, under the lights at home. Hopefully we’ll get a few down there watching as well which we do in the evening games.

“Hopefully we can put on a good performance – we’ve had a nice rest. Hopefully we’ll be fresh, ready to give it one last go and finish with a positive result.”

James is also targeting victory as a means to carry positive momentum into next season.

He said: “It’s important to finish the season on a high if you can. It always makes it easier when you go back in pre-season.

“We’ll be up for it, we know it won’t be easy because they’re a good side, and try and grab on to that seventh spot. We’ll see if we get the win and (can then) enjoy our break.”

Pat Thomas and Jamie West could feature but Jack Steele misses out.

James said: “The squad’s good. From the Shaftesbury game Pat comes back in and Jamie should be in the squad, he’s in contention. Those are our only changes.”
