WEYMOUTH & Portland Cruising Association held their club’s Annual General Meeting as the membership heard reports from various sections of the club before voting in new committee members and officers.

In his address to the club the president, Michael Gregory, thanked his committee for all their hard work, particularly John Atkinson for the extremely successful winter talks programme.

Gregory also stressed the need to continue attracting new members to keep the club vibrant and active. Having completed his time as president Gregory then handed over the reins to Sara Lloyd who will be the first female president for the club and is a past commodore of Castle Cove Sailing Club.

Lloyd thanked Gregory for his time as president and said she was looking forward to taking the helm and representing the club at outside events.

The formal meeting was followed by the presentation of trophies and a buffet prepared by an industrious team of club members.

Members are now preparing for their first rally of the season with nine boats signed up for a cruise to the Solent this weekend.

Chris Reid, assistant cruising officer, is leading the cruise and has been giving advice to new comers to ensure everyone has a safe and enjoyable trip.
