DORCHESTER Town are set to be reunited with Charlie Davis after the central midfielder signed a one-year contract for the 2019/20 Evo-Stik Southern Premier South season.

Davis joins the Magpies from Gosport Borough for a second permanent spell having initially signed for the club from Poole Town in June 2015, and is Dorchester's third new arrival of the summer.

After linking up with the county town side, Davis said: “I’m looking forward to it – last time I was here was really good, and we ended up having a fairly good season without achieving anything that we wanted to.

"I think everything is in place now to achieve something next season so hopefully we can do that.

“I’m really happy to be back and I’m really pleased with the project that is being put together here at Dorchester so hopefully it will lead to some good, successful years.”

Manager Callum Brooks said: “Charlie is a player that has been on my mind – I know Charlie, but what’s big for me is how much passion he has got for this football club.

"It’s an easy one really, obviously we’ve had departures in the midfield area, and I feel that Charlie will not only add to that area and improve us, but he will also add an element to the game where we lacked a little last bit last season, which is where he will add goals plus a real quality and threat from set-pieces.

“Charlie’s a young man who wears his heart on his sleeve during games and gives you absolutely everything in his performances, and that’s what I want replicated throughout the team.

"He really sums up how I see the Dorchester team moving forwards with energy, passion and enthusiasm.”

Davis becomes Dorchester's sixth signing of the summer after Tom Blair, Billy Lowes, Luke Winsper, Tiago Sa and Dan Strugnell put pen to paper at the Magpies.
