WEYMOUTH’S swimmers won six gold, six silver and six bronze medals at the annual Dorset Graded Meet at Dorchester’s 1610 pool.

The 32 strong team, the joint largest of any club represented from the county, also set 61 PBs.

Gold medal winners were Lauren Nutman in the nine and under 50m freestyle and 50m butterfly, Geoff Goodrick in the 10 and under 50m butterfly, Sadie Robinson in the 10 and under 50m butterfly and Rowan White in the 11 and under 200 freestyle and 100 Individual Medley events.

Geoff Goodrick was Weymouth’s most successful swimmer with a return of one gold, four silver and two bronze medals setting PBs in all seven events.

The Dorset Graded Meet is for swimmers aged nine to 12 from across the county who do not have regional qualifying times.

It is a great opportunity for younger and more inexperienced swimmers to enjoy competitive swimming against swimmers from other clubs.

Head coach, Nicki Brunell, said: “It is just fantastic to see so many good swimmers doing themselves and the club proud.

“They train hard but have fun along the way and are seeing the rewards of their effort and those of the coaching team at the club.”
