BELLE CONSTRUCTION 52

BUGLERS 18

BELLE Construction continued their assault at the top of the South & West Dorset League Premier Division table with a 52-18 win over Buglers.

Buglers made a strong start; Anna Crabb (WA) making some good feeds into the circle, where Emily England (GS) was waiting to convert. Belle upped their pace, moving the ball seamlessly to their shooters with precise, controlled passes to take a strong lead.

Well-timed interceptions from Belle’s WA, Carly Lowes, and superb use of space in the circle saw Belle stretch their lead massively by half-time. Buglers made some changes but were unable to take advantage of opportunities, which Belle picked up instead. Bugler’s circle defenders worked tirelessly to regain possession but Belle’s GS, Jazz Franklin, kept them at bay as she racked up points for her team.

Tactical changes for Belle saw attackers and defenders swapping roles. Buglers took advantage of a less rigid defence; however, an injury for Buglers disrupted their flow as a new shooting dynamic struggled to convert. Overall, Belle was the more dominant team, allowing them to emerge triumphant.

CRESTA LEISURE 26

SAINT SECURITY 19

CRESTA accelerated to a 26-19 win over Saint Security in the Premier Division.

Both teams made a good start, with tight defence in both shooting circles resulting in a low-scoring first quarter. Good communication from Cresta helped them gain a small lead.

A change in Saints’ defence brought a new dynamic to the D. Saints’ C, Sammy Whisker, was quick to take advantage of small errors from Cresta. Cresta upped their game, with excellent feeding into the circle by WA, Jayne Guppy, allowing her shooters to rack up the points. Both teams missed crucial opportunities but Cresta were able to secure their lead.

The ball moved continuously across the court but there was still plenty of action in the shooting circles. Saints switched up their shooting duo, allowing for more opportunities. Cresta’s GA, Sue Wooley, was on top form, allowing her team to extend their lead and claim a well-fought win.

EXE TRAINING 23

TEAM Waikiki edged Exe Training 24-23 in a Division One thriller.

The two sides started off scoring goal-for-goal; however, Exe made some errors which Waikiki were quick to take advantage of, carving out a three-point lead.

Exe found their rhythm to score a string of goals. However, Waikiki’s Sam Cowley (WD) put up a strong defence to regain possession – and the lead – for her team. A high-speed third quarter saw Waikiki’s score surge thanks to fantastic shooting from GA, Hayley Rooks. Exe fought back with a tight defence across court. However, Waikiki’s determination shone through as they secured a seven-goal lead.

Exe came back with renewed energy and GA, Niamh Randall, scored some brilliant goals which brought the score difference down. Exe made one last push for victory but Waikiki held tight to their lead and secured the victory by one point.

EXPERT CATERING 31

ARTIFEX 42

EXPERT Catering came out with a strong defence but still lost 42-31 to Artifex in their Division One clash.

Artifex’s midcourt players worked well to give each other plenty of options. Expert lost a player due to injury, allowing Artifex to build up a good lead as Expert struggled to keep up.

Expert’s shooters upped their game in an attempt to bring the difference down; Kirsty Sibley (GD for Expert) made some outstanding interceptions and gave strong support in the midcourt. Despite intense pressure from Expert, Artifex remained strong and maintained their lead. Expert started to get into their stride but Artifex dominated with effortless passes across the court to their shooters, who took advantage of every opportunity.

Expert’s GK, Laura Osbourne, found space to give good support to her team. Artifex defending duo, Jo Davies (GD) and Rhiannon Carter (WD) made some crucial turnovers, allowing their team to secure their victory.
