DORCHESTER Town have lured coveted Tiverton Town marksman Tom Bath to the Clayson Stadium in the Magpies’ 12th signing of the summer.

Bath has agreed terms with the county town side for the 2019/20 campaign and joins midfielders Tom Blair, Billy Lowes, Luke Winsper, Charlie Davis and Sean Wright, defenders Callum Rose, Kyle Egan, Tiago Sa and Dan Strugnell, goalkeeper Shane Murphy plus striker River Smith in signing during the off season.

The striker has been an important part of the Yellows’ side for the past three campaigns with 45 goals in 143 appearances and is Dorchester’s seventh new arrival of summer.

After signing from Tivvy, who were thrashed 6-0 by Dorchester in April, Bath said: “Obviously I’ve had some great seasons at Tiverton and met some good people there, but I think it was the right time to move to a great club like this.

“Everything is in place to get the club back to where it should be.

“I’m really looking forward to it - to meeting the boys, for the season to start and hopefully to score some goals for this great club.”

Dorchester manager Callum Brooks said: “He’s a player that we’ve had our eye on for a while.

“As much as I feel recruitment has been fantastic so far this close season, we’re all aware that to finalise the cherry on top we need that marquee front man who will lead our line, and we’ve identified Tom as the perfect fit for that.

“I’ve been doing extensive research and from my chats with Tom it was evident that we might be the right club for him at the right time and he’s agreed to come in so, for me, it’s a really positive signing.

“It’s one that I hope will make our supporters happy – no one is more aware than me of the need to get in a front man that belongs to Dorchester Town and this lad ticks all of the boxes for what we’re looking for.”
