TORNADOES won a stunning 14 medals, including six golds, at the Dorset Graded Meeting.

Seventeen Tornadoes swimmers attended the regatta and produced an impressive 59 personal bests.

Freddie Middleton won 100m backstroke gold as did Sophia Zrazhevskaya, nine, and Sophie Marsh, 12, in their respective girls’ 100m backstroke classes.

Holly Kearns, 11, and Natalia Baran, 12, also scooped golds in their respective 100m freestyle classifications. Holly Olsen claimed gold in the 50m backstroke.

Zrazhevskaya won silvers in the 50m butterfly and 100m freestyle, as Olsen, 12, took 100m individual medley second.

Kearns earned silver in the 200m freestyle, while 100m backstroke silver followed for Ben Playle before Hollie Thomas, 12, took second in the 100m individual medley. Playle also achieved 200m freestyle bronze, while Baran claimed 50m backstroke bronze.

Olsen was awarded the ‘top girl’ accolade, Baran scooped the ‘fastest girl swimmer of the day and Erin Penny was the ‘most improved medley swimmer’.

Top improvers were Thea Denham, Rudy Falconer, Emily Marsh, Dougie Middleton, Jayden Walburn and Tom Wordsworth.

Tornadoes’ Catherine Irving said the swimmers have worked hard and deserve their success, thanking the coaches, trainers and swimmers’ families.
