WEYMOUTH Network (WN) claimed the Division One Mixed League, after winning nine and losing one match, accruing a points total of 162.

The side consisted of Vicky Edwards, Moira Bellingham, John Sedwards (captain), Richard Brown, Liz Osborne, Wahid Miah, Helen Webb and Alison Norris.

WN will remain top of Division One next season to defend the title.

WeySports entered a team in to the Knockout Cup and won all of their drawn games and were ultimately crowned winners after beating Charmouth 378-352 at Redlands.

The WDBL ‘Nigel Miller’ Junior Tournament was played earlier in January this year, and the winner was Alf Paul with Adam Rushton runner-up, both members of Shuttlebusters Youth Badminton Club.

There are two divisions in the West Dorset Mixed League (WDBL) comprising eight teams in both divisions.

The WDBL is played in various sports halls all over Dorset, the furthest being Wareham and Yeovil.

Running alongside are the Knockout Cup/Plate tournaments, where teams are drawn out of a hat to play against each other.

Each match is ‘handicapped’ (by score) according to skill.

The winners of the first round are entered into the cup tournament and the losers in the first round go into the plate tournament.
