DORSET’S Paul Tweddle has helped coach Somerset to One-Day Cup glory against Hampshire at Lord’s in a six-wicket victory.
Tweddle, a former Dorset wicketkeeper-batsman, has been an integral part of Somerset’s coaching setup with his niche being fielding.
And the former Dorset, Dorchester and Bridport wicketkeeper-batsman described the enormity of the achievement.
He said: “It’s massive for everyone involved, for the supporters and for the players – a huge day out and we loved every minute of it.
“The day is massively about the players and how they go, but it’s lovely to be involved in a massive Lord’s final and to come out on the right side of it is something I’m really proud of.
“It was surreal at times, sometimes I felt I was doing things wrong because there’s things to be more wary of at Lord’s than other places.
“But it’s such an amazing venue and the history makes it a special place to be involved whether you’re playing or coaching.”
Asked whether he still keeps an eye on results back home, Tweddle said: “I try to keep abreast of what’s going on in Dorset cricket.
“I’ve got huge ties to Bridport and Dorchester because they were big parts of how I grew up playing and coaching the game.
“I’ve still got a few mates that are playing over at the Rec as well, so I try and keep abreast of it where I can, but the schedule sometimes gets away from me,” he admitted.
