PORTLAND Red Triangle captain Matt Randell is looking for something similar to his side’s previous win, as he prepares his team to travel to Shillingstone in County Division One tomorrow (1.30pm).

Portland changed the batsmen around and it paid huge dividends with a 203-run victory over Marnhull. As a result there is just one change, as Ryan Price returns, albeit in more of a bowling capacity, and replaces Joe Adkins.

Randell, reflecting on that win, told Echosport: “It was a good win, we set the platform, we changed the batters around which worked which was really nice to see.

“It was nice to do something and it actually pays off. So that was good to see, our openers Chris (Leake) and Ray (Emery) they batted really well against really a good opening spell of bowling.

“I think we were only 30 off 12 overs but we just set a platform and then we could fire from there. So we will be looking to do something very similar this week to see off the opening bowlers, get a platform and look to push on from there.”

Randell praised Shillingstone who sit fourth, two places behind Portland, as he said: “Shillingstone seem to be in much better form this year than what they seemed to be in last year, they seem to have strung together some really good results so it will be quite a tough game.

“I am not too sure what the conditions will be like, I haven’t really played up there too much so that will be an interesting one for us as well having not played too much up there to assess conditions nice and quickly.”
