WEYMOUTH captain Harry Mitchell admits Compton House are a relative unknown for his side ahead of their County Division One clash at Redlands tomorrow (1.30pm).

The two sides have largely avoided each other through numerous relegations and promotions but meet with contrasting form.

Weymouth have picked up two impressive wins in two games, first beating second-placed Portland before skittling Broadstone Seconds for 22.

Compton House, meanwhile, have lost two of their past three matches and sit just 10 points behind the third-placed Seasiders in sixth.

Speaking to Echosport, Mitchell revealed he is familiar with some of Compton’s players having faced Hazelbury Bryan in Dorchester Evening League action for Cosmos.

He said: “They’ve got a few players linked with Hazelbury Bryan. They’ve got some powerful hitters at the top, some accurate bowlers and they’re quite a good fielding side.

“Coming off Saturday, not all of us got a game so we’re keen to get going this week. We’ll go in with our normal approach. We know how Redlands plays. Boundaries are quite hard to get so running hard is going to be key.”

Mitchell also has the welcome problem of a selection headache and will make a late call on his final 11.

“It’s the first time in my captaincy that I’ve had a lot to pick from, so it’s been a good week for myself to pick a side that will go out and win the game,” he said.

Paul Collins, Tom Reed, Andy Anderson and Jack Sapsworth miss out, with Dom Webb, Kieron Womble, Matt Lawes and Tim Guyett coming in.
