LEADERS Dorchester have a “happy camp” ahead of their Dorset Funeral Plan Premier League clash with Poole Town at Dorchester Rec tomorrow (1pm), according to skipper James Dunham.

Dunham’s men thrashed Bere Regis by eight wickets in their last outing, and the captain believes his bowlers and batsmen are in good touch.

The county town side top the standings by 13 points from reigning champions Wimborne & Colehill, Dorchester having collected five wins from six games despite a tough opening schedule.

Dunham told Echosport: “We’re looking to continue the winning form. We’re looking good with both bat, ball and in the field as well – it’s a happy camp. We’re definitely looking to push on.

“Especially with the league this year, consistency is the key. With teams around us beating each other it’s played in our favour.

“We just need to focus on each week as it goes and focus on winning. I don’t think there’s been too many times we’ve picked up the full 20 points this year but you’re just looking to win games.”

Dunham, however, has full respect for Poole – last season’s runners-up – who have lost to Bere and Broadstone in their past two games.

“You can never underestimate a team like Poole,” Dunham warned.

“They’ve got players that can take the game away from you, so I’m not looking at their form, I’m more looking at ours.

“They’re going to turn up at our place looking to get back to winning ways.”

Dorchester welcome back James and Will Caldwell, plus Jack Owens, at the expense of Jim Ryall, Will McKay and Josh Richardson.
