DORCHESTER and District Skittle League held their presentation evening celebrating the best of the season at the Trinity Club, with Skimmers crowned Section A champions for the second year running.

Approximately 250 members attended the evening and after the presentation of the trophies there was a disco and a very successful draw for members took place which raised over £120 for league funds.

The trophies were presented by two team members of Colliton Flingers, Lee Aplin and Graham Cockett as their team had presented a new Pairs Trophy in memory of Allan Aplin, the Allan Aplin Memorial Pairs Trophy, who had played in the league for many years and who passed away during the season.

The Skimmers were the Men’s Section A champions for the second year running with Section B won by The Essentials.

Section C champions were Tom Browns Bullocks and Section D was won by Wareham Legionaires.

The Men’s Knockout Cup was won by Royal Oak Wanderers with the plate being lifted by Half Pints.

The Ladies’ Section was won by Oakettes with the ladies’ Knockout Cup being won by Devils.

Graham Rose of Jolly Green Giants claimed the singles prize after a great night of skittles at the Trinity Club and the

Sticker-up Cup was won by Josh Fowler who sticks-up for Huntsmen.

The final 16 open pairs played off at the Colliton Club with the eventual winners being Jordan Smith and Kevin Selby of Country Boys and they were presented with the Allan Aplin Memorial Pairs Trophy.

The Secretaries Shield for the Open League was won by Tam Dodge of Wurzels and Jade Thompson of Oakettes won the Ladies’ Shield.

The Ladies’ Pairs was won by Nikki Fowler and Kayley Pitfield of Vixens.

The trophy for the most Oxos gained in the season was shared between Breezers and Devils who had 16 oxos each.

Ryan Hopton of Breakaways was the men’s league top scorer with 82 and Theresa Rogers of Oakettes was the highest lady with 74.

The AGM of the league is on Friday, June 21 in the Dorset Room at the Colliton Club, Dorchester at 8pm.
