BERE Regis captain Rich Cole has urged his troops to collect a “pick-me-up” victory at Sherborne in the Dorset Funeral Plan Premier League tomorrow (1pm).

Bere have gone off the boil since an outstanding five-wicket victory over Poole, losing two of three games since, with bad weather spoiling the other.

However, Cole’s men did accumulate 11 points for a slender 11-run loss to Broadstone last time out and will be buoyed by their record over second-placed Sherborne, over whom they did the double in 2018.

Cole told Echosport: “They’re second in the table and clearly something is working for them at the moment, so I’m quite cautious.

“We haven’t had a win since Poole and need a bit of a pick-me-up. This feels like the game to target, especially after the defeat at the weekend against Broadstone.”

But Bere have been dealt a blow in the seamers’ department with Rich Payne and Crispin Brown set to miss out. However, Cole remains undeterred.

“Sherborne’s a big pitch, so it may work to our favour with a lot of spinning options,” he explained.

“Batting seems to be a consistent worry for us, we’re always focusing on that rather than the bowling.

“We’ve got plenty of depth in the bowling but batting is something we really need to sharpen up on.”

Dave Griffiths returns after a four-week lay-off while Tim Goodhew and Rob Cole also come in, although Tristan Gale misses out.
