WEYMOUTH Beach Volleyball Club players picked up a host of honours at the three star UKBT event in Croyde, with Ryan Stout and partner Valdis Baranov claiming the Division One pairs title.

Beach academy Croyde hosted one of the many UK tour competitions at three star level with the tour coming to Weymouth in July for the five star grand slam event.

Players compete in a King and Queen of the beach event on the Saturday and also the pairs competition on the Sunday.

The Saturday tougher competition saw Weymouth players David James claim the Division Five King, Liam Tewksbury claim the Division Three King and Terry Oldrid claim the Division Two King honours.

All five regularly play and train on the sands of Weymouth and use the permanent courts to train.

The UKBT tour arrives in Weymouth for the five star event on July 26-28th.

This is just one of the five-star events across the country this summer.

The line up for the event is already looking star-studded with a host of England and Scottish Internationals plus teams from across Europe already signed up.

Graeme Sawyer and Pete Bennett, directors of Weymouth Beach Volleyball club said: “It is great to see so many local players involved and successful in the UKBT tour this year.

“We are looking forward to welcoming all the teams from across to Europe to Weymouth for what will be a spectacular competition and a massive attraction for players of beach volleyball and the general public alike.”
