BERE Regis captain Rich Cole admits he wants to “sink” opponents Stalbridge as the race to secure Dorset Funeral Plan Premier League survival intensifies tomorrow (1pm).

Cole’s men are winless since a stunning five-wicket success at Poole on June 1 – a wait of four games including three losses and an abandonment.

Consequently, Bere have been sucked into seventh, stationed just 33 points above bottom side Stalbridge with nine games to play.

Speaking to Echosport, Cole is mindful of the need to beat Stalbridge with safety in mind.

He said: “We’ve got a really strong team out – we’ve realised the importance of this game.

“We basically want to sink Stalbridge so we can guarantee our safety. We’re seventh ahead of Shroton, Martinstown and Stalbridge so it’s important we increase that gap – we need to focus now.

“We’re aware we’ve had a run of bad games and the consistent problem has been our batting. We need to make sure we approach our innings in a more managed way.

“We’ve not had the right game management in place the last few weeks so we’ll be looking to have a bit of a chat before the game starts to make sure we know what bowlers we’re targeting how we’re approaching our innings.”

Bere make two changes as Rich Payne and Crispin Brown replace Elliot Woodhouse and Rob Cole.
