DORCHESTER TOWN 5
BRIDGWATER TOWN 0
DORCHESTER Town got their pre-season campaign up and running with a comprehensive 5-0 dismissal of Bridgwater Town at the Clayson Stadium.
A spell of four goals in the space of nine first-half minutes did the damage before a trialist bagged the fifth in the 81st minute.
Boss Callum Brooks would have been pleased with an energetic first-half performance that was characterised by crisp, slick passing and good interplay from midfield to attack.
With Dorchester dominant throughout over their ninth-tier opposition, Dom Panesar-Dower and Kyle Egan forced saves from Luke Viney either side of a wayward Dan Strugnell curler.
Dorchester got their reward on 30 minutes when Egan skipped past three defenders and provided a tap-in for Sean Wright.
Three minutes later Brooks’ want of a high press paid dividends as Panesar-Dower’s strike was superbly tipped onto the crossbar and River Smith tucked home from six yards.
Dorchester then won a free-kick, taken by Tom Blair, which drifted into the far corner following poor defending.
Less than 60 seconds later, Panesar-Dower’s inswinging corner was nodded home by Strugnell as Bridgwater wilted.
The Magpies introduced five triallists at half-time and Bridgwater stemmed the tide of goals until the number 18 trialist curled home after a ricochet in the box.
Dorchester next travel to ninth-tier Horndean on Saturday (3pm).
Magpies: Murphy, Egan (#5 Trialist 46), Strugnell (Sa 46), Rose, Brookes, Panesar-Dower (#4 Trialist 46), Winsper (#17 Trialist 46), Lowes (Trialist 80), Blair (#16 Trialist 46), Wright (#15 Trialist 46), Smith (#18 Trialist 46, #9 Trialist 82).
