DORCHESTER II 236 (20pts) bt HAMWORTHY REC 177-9 (10pts) by 57 runs

ANOTHER strong performance from Dorchester Seconds put them in to within touching distance of the County Division Three promotion places with an impressive victory over a competitive and vocal Hamworthy side.

Batting first, the county town side lost a couple of early wickets but it was Josh Foot again who turned the momentum in his team’s favour with 55 and was joined by debutant David Proctor who hit a magnificent 59 which included three huge sixes.

With 10 overs left and eight wickets down, Dorchester’s youngsters then produced the goods again with Will Morgan (30) and Billy Baker (36) making the visitors chase a much larger total than thought at one stage.

In reply, Hamworthy went after the total but could not quite keep up with the run-rate and, as a result, lost wickets regularly.

Nathan Holness batted well for the visitors with an unbeaten 70 where his side finished on 177-9 in reply, and Rob Nobbs taking four wickets and Rohan Scott two, being the pick of the bowlers for the county side.

Today the seconds are away to Kingston Lacy (1.30pm).
