THE Weymouth ADC Singles League is set for a judgment night this Monday after some huge upsets in both the Premier League and Championship.

The final night will see who avoids the drop and who gets promoted to the Premier League for the second half of the season.

Any one of six players can still be relegated from the Premier League as four points separate second bottom Trevor Honnor and Simon Churchill in fifth.

Chris Burton whose fate was sealed last Monday when he was defeated in his first match 3-1 to Drew Tweedy and this meant any slim chance of survival was over.

Burton who hit a fantastic 152 shot-out against Stewart Masters could not prevent another 3-1 loss.

Honnor’s two 2-2 draws against Arnie Quinn and then Mel Burton still gives him hope of staying up meaning Honnor needs to win both his remaining matches and there being a massive swing in leg difference for him to escape the drop.

A player whose fate is in his own hands is Quinn as he goes into the final night with still two games in hand on the opponents around him.

Quinn picked up some big results along with his draw with Honnor, he then went on to hit a 131 out shot in a 3-1 win

over Churchill before picking up another point against Mel Burton.

Andy Masters sits in the relegation play-off spot after drawing 2-2 with Mel Burton before suffering a 4-0 defeat to table-topper Danny Aplin who will now end the first half of the season top of the pile as another 4-0 victory over Quinn cannot see the former being replaced.

This was due to Andrew McDermott dropping points in both his matches none more so than in his whitewash 4-0 defeat to Mel Burton who inflicted McDermott’s first defeat of the season.

A seventh draw has cost McDermott top spot as he came from behind twice to gain a point against another player facing the drop in Mark Samways.

A 3-1 win over Burton means a victory over Quinn or Aplin on Monday should guarantee Samways survival.

Stewart Masters boosted his chances of staying up after bouncing back from a 3-1 defeat to Churchill to defeat Tweedy 3-1 in their encounter.

In the Championship, Scott Gannon blew the promotion race wide open as he defeated two of the top five players looking to secure promotion.

Gannon who before the night started sat rock bottom with only three points to his name beat second-placed Shaun Lampard 3-1 and ended the night with the same result against Paul Paice.

Gannon did suffer defeat in his second match 3-1 to Matty Betts but, with two big scalps, Gannon will be looking to be nearer the top than bottom in the second half of the new season.

Nige Davis once again had a great night and secured his place in the Premier League as he won 3-1 against Paice and then 4-0 versus Lloyd Honnor, while Paice still has an outside chance of promotion. He hit a great 100 out-shot in the opening leg of his 4-0 win over promotion rival Terry Tucker.

Tucker picked up a vital point in his other match of the night that kept him in third spot against Simon Sharpe as they shared the points in a 2-2 draw.

Billy Short was the big mover in the Championship as a 3-1 win over Betts and then Sharpe saw Short overtake the latter and into the fourth play-off spot.

As it stands, Short will be taking on Andy Masters in a play-off to see who will be playing in the top-flight for the second half of the season.

Other results saw Barry Stratford pick up two points as he drew with Lampard and Eddie Knell respectfully.

Knell picked up a a great 3-1 win over Honnor in his opening match of the evening.

Judgment night gets underway at 8pm on Monday at the Weymouth Angling Club .
