BEAMINSTER captain Ross Baker has targeted an enhanced batting display ahead of his side’s County Division Two clash with Parley Seconds at the Memorial Ground on Saturday (1.30pm).

Baker’s men, who lead the standings by two points from Witchampton, were bowled out for 71 by the Witches in their previous home game before defeating Cranborne by six wickets last time out.

And the manner of defeat against their title rivals has left Baker under no illusions as to what aspect of Beaminster’s game requires improvement.

He told the Bridport News: “We want to put on a better batting performance at home, move on and play well again at home.

“It’s always a good batting wicket at Beaminster and there shouldn’t be any excuses this week.”

Baker added: “Our bowling and fielding was excellent last week and we’ll look to maintain that form.

“Parley are a pretty good side but can be a bit unpredictable. We don’t know too much about them but it depends how strong their first team is.”

Chris Park, Ollie Bareham and Lewis Keenan return for Simon Jones, Ali Crawford and Adrian Phillips.
