ST GEORGE’S continue their march towards retaining their Read Woodruff Dorchester & District Evening League title as their bowlers kept the Bere Regis batsmen subdued, bowling them out for a mere 62.

Matt Randell then destroyed the total with 41 from 10 balls, including four boundaries and four sixes, with Matt King (21no) assisting in a 10-wicket win as the Saints chased the total in an incredible three overs.

Cattistock kept up the chase with a 30-run victory over Martinstown. They were indebted to a rapid 41, at a strike rate of 164, from Steve Tucker to reach 146-3 and Martinstown were unable to match this despite a valiant 23 off eight balls from Sam Kershaw.

Puddletown pulled off an exciting last-ball win over Dewlish by just two runs, but unfortunately no scorecard details are available.

The destination of the Division Two title is much harder to predict with Cerne Valley and Dorchester Casuals chasing Hazelbury Bryan hard.

Casuals beat Abbotsbury by six wickets after Rhys Cole (2-15) initiated a mid-order collapse by the Swans from 56-2 to 58-6 in reaching 95-7.

Neil Walton (3-21) struck three times in reply, but he was Swans’ only successful bowler as Casuals gained their two points.

Cerne Valley’s bowlers were on top against Charlton Down. Tao White (3-10), Dave Musson (2-11) and James Ellwood (2-13) had Charlton all out for 80 and then White (19) and Ellwood (32) made sure of a seven-wicket win.

Charlton Down did post a victory over Plush, Mark Purnell’s 2-13 being instrumental in a 22-run margin.

Incidentally, a late posting of the reverse fixture saw Tim Durston put in a man-of -the-match performance of 35 runs and 3-5 in a 29-run win for Down.

The Division Three title, on the other hand, is decided. Puddletown Reserves made sure they could not be caught by beating Winfrith.

Michael Crabb (46) and Jamie Edwards (39no) allowed them to set a target of 162 and, despite the best efforts of Winfrith captain Ashley Hayes (59no), Puddletown completed a 51-run win.

Winfrith also did Puddletown a favour by beating Frampton. Mike Upshall’s 54 meant that Winfrith’s 125-6 was just too good for Frampton, who lost by only seven runs.

Frampton did report wins over Puddletown Rugby Club and Dorchester Colts. Chas Duerdoth took 2-13 and then smashed 68no in the six-wicket win over Rugby Club with James Dunham’s 63 being top score against Colts, for whom Phil Horne (51) and Devon Derrien (3-26) performed particularly well.

New Look’s bowlers were pummelled twice recently. For Cattistock Seconds, Bradley Mullins (67no) and Ryan White (58no) set 187 as a target; in reply Laurence Tonkin hit three sixes in his 50, but New Look ended 58 runs short.

It was a similar tale against the Rugby Club, for whom Jim Ross (67no) and Ryan White (58no) were unbeaten in setting 163, and when Adam Church took two early wickets, New Look ended 29 runs adrift.
