CALLUM Brooks is set to ring the changes ahead of Dorchester Town’s trip to Bemerton Heath Harlequins tonight (7.45pm), to ensure his players enter Saturday’s final pre-season game with a similar amount of minutes.

Established first-team players who did not start against Totton at the weekend will be flipped around to begin against Bemerton, to ensure a balanced squad minutes-wise prior to their warm-up on Saturday when they host Winchester City.

Brooks said: “It will be another game that poses a lot of challenges and we will be looking for another strong performance from our group as we put the final touches on the pre-season programme.

“What you would call established first-team players that did not start (against Totton) we will flip it over so they will start (tonight) so we should go into Saturday hopefully with everyone having played similar types of minutes.

“We should have a full-squad to choose from Saturday, which, I could play my cards close to my chest, but I imagine any manager will almost be looking to use the final pre-season games to replicate a league game.”

Bemerton were relegated from the Sydenhams Wessex Premier Division last season, where they played Portland United, and are now in the sixth tier of non-League football, but Brooks praised their recent signings.

Brooks said: “They have signed a lot of good players. They have got a really strong group this year, so as whenever you go to sides a couple of leagues below, you find a lot of their players believe they should all be playing at a higher level so they always raise their game.”
