MARTINSTOWN captain Sam Kershaw feels the Villagers know “what needs to be done” as his side prepares to host last year’s champions Wimborne & Colehill in the Dorset Funeral Plan Premier League tomorrow (1pm).

Martinstown sit second from bottom in the table, 24 points ahead of Stalbridge, and suffered a 110-run loss on Saturday to Broadstone.

The two teams collide next week in a relegation blockbuster, but for now Martinstown face a big ask in the form of last year’s champions Wimborne, who beat them by 60 runs in the reverse fixture.

Kershaw said: “Everyone is pretty happy really, everyone knows what needs to be done. We had a really good training session on Monday, really productive.

“Everyone was a bit gutted with how Saturday went last week.

“It was just one of those games, someone bowls well, someone bats well, it can win you the game. We have got guys that are fully capable of giving those performances, they just have not really come off this year. Hopefully now towards the end of the season we can play with a bit more freedom, and express ourselves a bit more.”

Martinstown are yet to win at home so far this year, with their two wins coming away at Shroton and Christchurch and they are without a win since June 22.

Martinstown make two changes, with Matt Camp unavailable so Mike Kennedy-Barnard comes in for him, while Dave Herbert has become available and replaces James Reynolds.
