WEYMOUTH manager Mark Molesley has urged the Terras’ faithful to come out in force as Bath City visit the Bob Lucas Stadium in Vanarama National League South action tonight (7.45pm).

Molesley’s men collected a thrilling 2-1 comeback victory at a raucous Maidstone United on Saturday, with Ben Thomson completing a memorable brace in the 89th minute.

A crowd of 2,015 were in attendance at the Gallagher Stadium, including a healthy travelling Weymouth support, and Molesley feels the Terras’ backing could reach similar levels against City.

He told Echosport: “We really enjoy that sort of atmosphere and I hope we have a similar one at home because the boys really respond to that.

“We had a great away following (at Maidstone) with a packed crowd and it created a great atmosphere. Like I said, we always rise to the occasion.

“There’s no reason why we can’t get that crowd. We had it at the end of the season last season and what a difference it makes to us.

“Hopefully they’ll come out and support us and push us on like they did on Saturday.”

He added: “It was a great win, but that’s done and dusted now. We got to prove it’s no flash in the pan.

“The games come thick and fast and they don’t get any easier. Bath City were in the play-offs last year, they have a slightly different style to Maidstone.

“Every game is a different challenge and no more so than Bath, it’s going to be a really tough game but one we go into in a confident mood and one we’re looking forward to.”

Weymouth have previous with the Romans, who visited the Terras in pre-season ahead of the previous campaign and took a 2-1 victory courtesy of goals from Ross Stearn and John Mills.

Asked what challenges Bath may pose, Molesley said: “They’re a team fairly close to the way we like to play.

“They play some attractive football, have very good players, some experience and they were unlucky not to go up last year, they ran a good race by getting into the play-offs.

“It’s another great team for us to pit our wits against and as long as we’re true to ourselves and show the same attitude I’m sure we’ll give them a good game.

“We always want to go and perform well in front of our home fans. None of these games are going to be easy.

“Hopefully they’ll be patient, stick with us and drive us on because when they get behind us they make such a big difference.”

Weymouth have no injury concerns ahead of the clash.

Prior to the contest, Weymouth will hold a shareholders’ meeting at the Bob Lucas Stadium (6pm).
