WITH pre-season training well underway, Dorchester’s senior men’s squad is looking strong for the upcoming season back in Wadworth 6X Dorset & Wilts One South.

Many familiar faces are training on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7pm at Coburg Road under the watchful eye of new head coach Martin Oxland.

The squad is coming together well on and off the pitch and are arranging some “meet the coach and captains” evenings with a barbecue post training.

All are welcome and any new players or those interested in joining the club are welcome to go and introduce themselves on training nights.

With more than just the game itself to offer to any prospective members, club chairman Nick Hodge describes Dorchester Rugby Club as “the original social network” and looks forward to a strong season ahead for the club on all fronts.

With many community social events held at the club, including its firework spectacular in November, plus a Rugby World Cup to view in the clubhouse, Dorchester offers something for all from this September.

The county town club has a large junior section with a number of girls’ teams alongside a ladies’ side playing in the league system and three senior men’s teams playing across two leagues and a merit table.

A strong colts side is also ready to head towards senior rugby with a strong fixture card commencing with a friendly against Kings School Bruton on Sunday, September 1.

Dorchester’s senior men’s teams have pre-season fixtures against Yeovil plus Swanage & Wareham on Thursday, August 15 and 22.

The ladies kick-off their season with a friendly against Westbury on Sunday, August 18.
