DORCHESTER II 260-5 (20pts) bt DORSET TIGERS 110 (4pts) by 150 runs

DORCHESTER Seconds easily thrashed the Dorset Tigers by 150 runs in the big top-of-the-table County Division Three clash which keeps the county town side at the summit.

Ben Macklin batted superbly well with a stylish 68, as did the returning Stuart Beasley with a hard-hitting 74.

Martin Richards and Matt Porter chipped in and the Dorchester boys finished on 260 for 4 at tea.

Concentration was key against an erratic bowling attack, after one of their players were removed from the bowling attack for throwing.

Tigers, who brought in no less than eight players from Southampton in for this game, struggled from the start and their openers continued their erratic approach slogging a six over cow in the first over, only to run themselves out a few balls later.

Rob Nobbs and Rohan Scott bowled well, and were unlucky not to pick up a couple more wickets and all rounder and Matt Porter tied up his end with Andy Vernon taking a sharp slip catch.

George Foot bowled superbly, as did Nathan Quinn who picked up three wickets and two great run outs and bowled the opposition out for just over a 100.

It was a challenging game, which the Dorchester players relished keeping them at the top and appreciated the support of all the several players who rotated this week, with Sam Critchell coming on as 12th man and fielded brilliant replacing George Foot whose kit which was three sizes too big for him.

Dorchester Seconds travel to Sturminster & Hinton on Saturday.
