MARTINSTOWN captain Sam Kershaw admits the Villagers will blood young talent in their Dorset Funeral Plan Premier League contest at Sherborne tomorrow (1pm).

Kershaw’s men collected a crucial six-wicket victory over bottom side Stalbridge last weekend, moving them 46 points clear of their relegation rivals with 60 points available.

Consequently, Martinstown will stay up if Stalbridge fail to outscore Kershaw’s side by at least six points this weekend.

Leg-spinner Ed Maltby, 14, will make his first-team debut while young batsman Jack Kane will be boosted up the order at the Terrace. Liam Moss also comes in.

Speaking to Echosport, Kershaw said: “We’ve got Ed coming in for his first-team debut. Here’s no pressure on guys like him.

“Jack we’re going to bump up the order and get him some time at the crease. These guys are the future and it’s important we invest time in them, give them a go. Even if they only play this game and go back to the twos, it’s still experience for them. They know what to expect when they do make the step up in future.”

Martinstown make four changes with Maltby, Kane, Moss and Charlie Durant replacing George and Tom Pope, Dave Herbert and Chris Read.
