WALES mounted a stirring recovery against Dorset on day two of their MCCA Unicorns Championships Western Division tussle at North Perrott.
Resuming on a perilous 39-6, Wales batsmen Oscar Kolk (55) and Ben Kellaway (60) played sensibly, showing good patience to frustrate the Dorset attack.
However, both men fell to the off-spin of Jigar Naik (3-74) and the former Leicestershire pro bowled Tomos Jones (0) first ball as Wales wobbled on 156-9.
Few would have expected a 92-run stand for the last wicket, Andrew Gorvin (73) top-scoring for Wales before Simon Woodruff (1-29) ended the innings.
Needing a good start in their second innings, Dorset were rattled as Gorvin (5-17) proved virtually unplayable with the ball.
The all-rounder stormed through Dorset’s top order and at one stage his sensational figures read 9-7-2-5 before Dorset closed 185 runs ahead on 93-5, Luke Matthews unbeaten on 30.
