WEYMOUTH Wildcats co-promoter Martin Peters believes his squad has a genuine chance of beating Milton Keynes Knights in their Midland & Southern Development League meeting at Swindon tonight.

Wildcats drew 18-18 with the league’s bottom-placed side back in May but the Dorset outfit are keen to go one better with the Knights also yet to secure a victory this season.

Jakes Laker will again lead Weymouth alongside James Jessop, Sam Peters and Cesca Kirtley-Paine.

Speaking to Echosport, Martin Peters said: “Privately we’ve been saying what we need each rider to score. I think they can achieve what I’ve said to them.

“We’re going for the win, obviously it’s a bottom-of-the-table clash, and on their top two compared to our top two they might be slightly stronger.

“But I’m hoping our other two will make the difference. If they go in full of confidence and ride to the best of their abilities I think we can get a win.

“They’re all getting better, Sam’s feeling more comfortable on the bike, James is scoring a lot better and Jacob (Clouting) is not riding (at Swindon) but he’s massively improved.

“It’s effectively a neutral track as well because we’re at Swindon. We’ve been there once, they might’ve been there once, and that’s it.

“Sam’s been there twice this year because he went there with the youths as well. Hopefully we’ll be OK.”
