DORCHESTER Town boss Callum Brooks believes the Magpies are being “punished to the maximum” after a 2-1 BetVictor Southern Premier South loss to Blackfield and Langley.

Brooks watched on as his side conceded goals in the first minute of each half to Devane Bongou and Lerone Plummer, before Tom Bath pulled a goal back.

However, Tom Blair was sent off for alleged simulation in the 58th minute, for which he earned a second yellow card.

Although Dorchester enjoyed large spells with the ball in the final 30 minutes, the Magpies could not find an end product, failing to seriously test Lewis Noice’s goal late on.

Speaking to Echosport, Brooks rued several incidents going against his side at the Gang Warily.

He said: “We’re far from where we want to be in terms of how we want to play and how we want the team to look with the ball, especially. At the same time, we’re in a little bit of a run where the fixtures have spat us out a difficult start.

“We’re on a run where everything that can go wrong we’re being absolutely punished to the maximum. At the same time, we’re not making life easy for ourselves.

“Both goals came from poor decisions by our group and to concede so early on, straight away the gameplan changes.

“For the last three games we’ve been constantly chasing, so you need something to go for you a little bit. I don’t remember them having clear cut chances at all.”

Brooks admitted the Watersiders’ second goal was a blow after delivering a half-time team talk.

“You’re looking to come out and have a reaction. Within 30 seconds the reaction’s been nullified because you’re 2-0 down,” he said.

“Then, you get a goal back and we’re looking like we’re going to get something. Our main goal threat was Tom Blair – he was having a field day. Every time he got the ball he looked like scoring.

“Then the next blow is you lose Tom and you’ve got to play with 10 men. From the point we had 10 men we gave it a really good go and maybe were unlucky not to come away with something.”
