DORCHESTER vice-captain Dan Belt believes his title-chasing side’s Dorset Funeral Plan Premier League derby with Martinstown tomorrow (1pm) could be a “special occasion”.

The county town could seal the league title by claiming only nine points, regardless of second-placed Poole Town’s result against Shroton.

However, should the title contenders end up all square, Poole would snatch the league crown by virtue of gaining 27 points to their rivals’ 21 in the two matches played between them this season.

Belt told Echosport: “Being at home will be a special occasion if we can do it.

“We’re going to go out and take it as a normal game, obviously it’s a derby and they’re going to make it as hard as possible for us. We’ve got to go out, do the basics and try and perform.”

Meanwhile, Martinstown stand-in skipper Ryan Chase, who will hand the captaincy back to Sam Kershaw for the encounter, insists his side will give the game “a really good go”.

He said: “We don’t have any pressure on us and (we) can give it a really good go.

“Every year I’ve played against Dorchester it’s competitive. They’re a very good side and on our day we’re a good side as well – it’s fun to play in.

“There’s a lot on them because they’re right up there to win the title. On our day there are very few sides we can’t challenge.”

Dorchester welcome back Simon Mitchem and Jamie Barrett, with Josh Foot and David Proctor missing out.

Martinstown are set to unleash pace bowler Stuart Fry as one of five changes, with Kershaw, Lee House, Chris Read and Charlie Durant coming in.

They replace George Pope, Charlie Stewart, Fraser Hill, Jenson Stewart and Ed Maltby.

Martinstown: House, S Williams, T Pope, Kershaw, W Maltby, Jam Stewart, Fry, Camp, Chase, Durant, Read

Meanwhile, Bere Regis host Sherborne in their final game tomorrow (1pm) and captain Rich Cole is keen to capitalise on home advantage.

He said: “We’re looking to end the season on a high and maintain a position above Shroton in the league.

“We’re aware Sherborne have a lot of match winners in their team and we’re hoping that home advantage will serve us well.”

All-rounder Rich Payne returns, replacing Rob Cole as Bere seek to bolster their bowling attack.

Bere: M King, Payne, Murphy, Lambert, T Goodhew, Griffiths, White, Rich Cole, E Woodhouse, Walbridge, Keegan
