WEYMOUTH boss Mark Molesley has urged the Terras to reach their highest heights ahead of a home clash with last season’s beaten Vanarama National League South play-off finalists Welling United tomorrow (3pm).

Molesley is striving for a compete performance from Weymouth at the Bob Lucas Stadium having overseen four games without a win, although the Terras have collected two points from two games.

Weymouth achieved their first clean sheet in nine games in a poor 0-0 draw with Oxford City on Tuesday night but slipped to 10th from seventh as a competitive league continues to brew.

Speaking to Echosport, Molesley called for his troops to “put on a good show” against the Wings.

He said: “It’s another tough test, another big side in this league. We’re going to have to be at our best, make no doubt about it.

“We’ll try and dust the boys off – they’ve had two hard travels in a row so we’re delighted to get back home and we’re looking to put on a good show.”

He added: “This a tough league, we need to get back to winning ways as quick as we can. I’ve said before this league will leave you behind otherwise.

“We know we’ve got to be at our best to get anything out of any game – that’s the challenge and we’ve got to reach those heights.”

Molesley also offered an update on centre-back Sam Sherring, who came off in the 51st minute against Oxford through injury.

“He’s been nursing a bad sore ankle for the last week, 10 days,” the Terras’ manager revealed.

“I think he just took another bang on that, but hopefully it’s nothing too serious. We have to try and look after the players as best we can.

“Thommo (Ben Thomson) had to come off after the hour mark because we’re so desperate for him to be fit.

“We’ve had 80 minutes out of Lionel (Ainsworth). He hasn’t had that much match fitness yet either, so we got a good innings out of him.

“The new signing Shaun Hobson acquitted himself very well as well. There’s plenty to build on.”

Weymouth captain Josh McQuoid remains out with a hamstring injury.
