WEYMOUTH Beach Volleyball Club’s indoor season kicks off today (2.45pm) with a National Cup first round match against New Forest at one-off venue Weymouth College.

Last season, Weymouth Beach won National League Division Three at their first attempt and have now been promoted to National League Division Two.

New Forest are a well-established Division Two side so this cup match could be an important thermometer for the season ahead.

The match is particularly significant because the draw sees the winners take on national champions Polonia from London at home.

The week after the round two cup match Polonia will be playing their European Cup first round match so the opportunity to bring them to Weymouth is a very exciting prospect.

Unfortunately, Weymouth will be missing outside hitter Sean Hendry from their line-up for the first month of the season.

Hendry has played for the Scotland national side over the summer but until the end of October he is still based in Scotland. Otherwise the squad is at full strength.

This should be a very exciting match and entry to the college is free.
