DORCHESTER Town boss Callum Brooks was impressed by the “bright” Jack Hoey during his debut in the 2-0 FA Cup second qualifying round win over Evesham.

Hoey was making his Magpies’ bow having joined from rivals Weymouth on a one-month loan deal.

Although short of match fitness, Brooks was delighted with the youngster’s display.

He told Echosport: “He was really impressive, albeit he lacked a little bit of match fitness and game cohesion.

“He was really bright, very direct when he got on the ball and looked to go and hurt the opposition in good areas. He really bought into the detail and gameplan we were trying to implement.

“He did a lot of unselfish running, he was constantly making driving runs between their back lines which caused them to drop off and give our own midfielders room to operate.

“He’s a talented player and a very bright lad, so he’s one we’re pleased to have at the moment.”
